You may be or may not be a marijuana user or supporter to marijuana legalization. However as american citizens we should consinder the rights of all americans (including both marijuana user and non-users) under the Constitution of the United States of America. As former president Clinton did nothing to help legalize marijunan. Despite the fact that during his administration more people were arrested for simple possession chargers then any other president. This was also due to previous admistrations that enacted several poorly concevied laws concerning marijuana based on misleading information. It is very ironic consindering marijuana is the third most used drug of choice in america only exceeded by tobacco and alcohol in popularity. Yet marijuana by itself has been proven to be safer then almost any other drugs both legal or illegal. Despite over 60 years of propaganda and the so called "war on drugs"nothing has been done to protect the rights of the responsible adult marijuana users who are other wise law abating citizens and ones who become the victims of some of these laws.
Ironicly it's OK for adult americans to use tobacco, comsume alcohol, and take prescription drugs prescibed by there doctors; that over time effects are a lot more dangerous then marijuana. However it is not OK for the responsible marijuana user who does not avocate the misuse of marijuana or any other drugs both legal and illegal by anyone and esspecially not by minors.
Most recent was the issues concerning the use of "medical marijuna" by people who benefit from it effects that fate was decided before the United State Sumpeam Court. Despite the fact that the voters in eight states have approved the use of medical marijana but since it violated the federal laws it left up to the US Sumpeam Court to decide. However US. Sumpeam Court decision to let the current federal laws stand ingored the decision of the voters in eight state and violated the constitutional rights of those who choose to use marijuana medically. In summary why sould not matter whather or not if marijuana is being used by those who need it medically or recreationly by responsible adults.The real issue here should be the current federal laws that violate the cival rights of indivuals who choose to use marijuana.
The only real concerns our goverment should have would be preventing the misuse by adults and preventing the distrubtion of marijuana to minors. If marijuana were legalized new laws concerning the safe sales and useage of marijuana by responsible adults could be enacted in the same maner as tobacco and alcohol. Other benefits to consinder about marijuana legalization would be:
1. A new taxable income by government (The monies made could be used to help improving our habitat and reduce the need other taxes)
2. An additional saving of time and money for our court and jail systems in not having to process simple marijuana convictions.
3. An end to the so called "marijuana backmarket" and assurance of a safer and untained marijuana supply for marijuana users.
4. The creation of a new industry which would create new jobs. This could also include "industral hemp" which would greatly befefit our nature enviroment.

By signing this petition does mean that you are or you are not a marijuana user or that you approve of the misuse of any other drugs both legal or illegal by anyone. The only issue here concerns the legization of marijuana only for responsible adults and those who use it medically. That as a concerned citizen you want our current government administration to stop spending millions of US dollors on current marijuana laws that are not working. That new laws need to be enacted in the constructive legization of marijuana by responsible adults who choose to use it and by those who need to use it medically. These new laws need to protect the rights and freedom of all parties concern.
